New year, new things

So I think im going to start running, like on the regular. One of the few things i dont like about living in BK is if you want to go out and run and look like an idiot, you'll literally run into someone you know. none of my current sneakers are really up to the task of running, i have kinda flat feet- no strong arches here- so I really need something with stability and im torn between just getting some cheap shit or getting some a little nicer in order to Make me excited to wear them, and if that fails, guilty that I bought nice ones and aren't using them. good plan?

Im also switching from sprint to verizon b/c just about my entire social world is verizon and it would mean not worring about minutes with them. I'm going to get a new number too, since I'm still carting around a 5 yr old number from upstate which only makes people afraid to answer my calls. I'm getting the LG EnV fold open dealy. I'm moderatly thused.

Thoughts

Back in the good old days this sparkling blog of mine was supposed to be more about my art, but that crapped out after awhile. Maybe I'll get back to posting images and all that bs, but for now I'd just like to brag that I had some images of my enamel work shown in Georgia(the country) and Turkey(also a country,) I was excited. Hopefully I'll get my work including in some more stuff soon- but I want to finish up a couple newer pieces first- and if I can get them done in time is yet to be known.

Why are christmas cards so hard to write? Maybe its just because this time of the year is pretty lame to me, but I try to be quasi genuine on paper and it just doesn't work. There could be worse things in life. Like christmas lasting all year.

Things I need to do:

• Plan xmas gifts
• Take picture/make holiday cards
• Buy more silver
• Find new music to get obsessed with
• Laundry, again

OK, so I was really thused about going to see a chat thing with Stephin Merritt at the 92stY. Sadly the majority of the discussion seemed rehearsed, and as with all things,

The more you know about something, the less you appreciate it.

I don't expect an artist of any form to be in love with their own work- but honestly I was made to feel stupid for genuinely liking your work. Yes Stephin, I understand that much of your work is mockery, but mockery can be profound, revealing . Perhaps what I understood as truth was laziness. I will by no means stop listening to your music, but where I used to empathize with the desperation of your gruff voice I will now be reminded of the emptiness behind it.

"popular" demand

Ok, I'm going to try to get back into the swing of blogging, mainly because after quarter of a year since i've posted a wopping 3 people have asked/requested me to resume. which is like nothing. but still. To catch everyone up-
Someone tried to rob me at 4:30am in a park in williamsburg. NOthing ended up happening. mostly because kate kept insisting that he would have to point the gun at her face and shoot her in the head to get any money from her. OH, Kate. I went to coney island a few times. Worked alot. did pushups for like 3 days a couple months back. Got addicted to KitKat bars. Been doing some volunteer work. Got obcessed with the Degrassi marathons on the N. Started assisting a childrens jewelry class at the Y. Its fun so far. I bought alot of DVD's since I dont have tv. I got a new coat one day last week it was really cold, but it hasn't been cold enough to wear since. bummer.

The New Cars + Blondie

They were great. I nearly died when I thought blondie wasn't going to give us Heart Of Glass, but we got it in the encore and it was worth the wait. The Tide Is High was another highlight. Alot of good Cars song were done too, but I nearly froze to death.

I borrowed the old Jeff Buckley cd with Hallelujah on it, so that's been getting a lot of bedtime playtime. Also, I've had Beck's latest cd, for awhile now but hadn't really gotten into it. Well the other day when I was burning in the sun I realized it's a great summer cd so its been getting a lot of daylight playtime. Particularly, Earthquake Weather, which is the perfect for laying out/a day at the beach, and for the flip-side of summer,Que Onda Guero is just right for that bouncy in the streets typedeal. You know what I'm talking about right?

I'm back

I've been in Brooklyn for 2 weeks tomorrow. I got a sunburn today. I was out with kitty last week and bought two Vneck t's which I normally don't wear. Pale irish skin+dark chest hair does not a stellar combination make. Its been rainy here for the last few days and today there was actually some sun so having nothing to do, I decide to put on one of these Vnecks (they're kinda deep which is where the problem gets emphasis)and go lay in the sun thinking if i try to get some color in that Vpatch I'll be more prone to make use of these two shirts. somehow I end up with serenely still alabaster trichestangle but with burnface and burnarms. Maybe the chest hair blocks the sun or absorbs the UVB in some freakish way.

Anyway, I'm excited, tomorrow i'm going with kitty & brenbren to see blondie+thecars. I've been working on some ideas for a series of brooches I want to make once I've got studio access again. They'll have the sole intention of being sold, which is new for me really. I'll have to wait till Ive got some income though cause I need to invest in a new palate of enamel colors I've got in mind. Getting the right amount of money for the work I put in is going to be tough, Im keeping the designs really simple and thinking just enamel coated copper w/ some silver accent riveting and maybe a pinback plate decoratively pierced in silver. soooo yeahhhhhh.

Well I sure had a busy night.

Jesus Christ tonights tv was nuts. First off at 9 was the season finale of the OC and the series finale of Will & Grace. I was recording the OC so I watched W&G. I haven't really watched the show for the last two years but I wanted to see the finale because i'm a sucker for a finale- the flashbacks, timeskipping (a la dawsons creek,) and just the wierd quirkiness where the veil of the characters is just alot more shear. So anyway, WaG was aight there was the whole scary uber serious sort of aspect, I wasn just sort of expecting ther to be a Will and grace being together for ever thing. But it wasnt like that directly, so atleast that was refreshing. Glad to see will back with vince, but I don't know if that was just this ep with the magic of the time passing or if he's been around. Grace and Leo though? I understand they really needed to have her end up with something or else she would have made it seem that she sacrificed having a real relationship for being attached to will. But leo is a douche.

So once that was over, I couldn't watch the OC yet because the finale of ER was on. I know, ER has been just a shadow of its former self for the past few years, but you cant deny that they still make some crazy season enders and guest star epies. THE END WAS RIDIC. LUCA, ABBY, SAM, BIG GUY? and of course don't forget Gallant's fucking FUNERAL. I missed last weeks so I didnt see the ambulance exploding and crap. I should mention that @ 10 I got a frantic call from kitty who had just watched the OC and hadn't realized I hadnt seen it yet and was exploding cause I didnt know why she was freaking out. It sort of felt like talking to the future. Getting back on track, the end of ER was crazy with Abby, you can say what you want about the show, but i get so sucked into the characters that I really get shocked when crap happens to them. maybe its just because its been on so damn long. Abby/moira is awesome(newsradio anyone?)shes been my fav person on the show since shes been on love the storylines with her moms mental issues, you can see how her life has shaped how she reacts and thinks. Neela is great too, but my friends can't stand her so I won't go further.

AND FINALLY

I watch my recorded OC. First 45 min, alright, kinda boring. This whole season has been a step back from the world rocker of last year. When anything did happen it was always in the last few mins which is pretty lame if you ask me. Ok, so Id seen the teaser saying someone dies, with a flash of all main people. When something like that happens you assume its going to be some unimportant person or some crap. Fast forward to Ryan and Doeface getting run off the road down a crazy steep hill thingy. Ryan pulling her out of the car and pretty much dying in his arms. Unless she didn't, but the scenes from next season def look like shes dead. What the hell is the OC going to do? Of all the Personas I'd think doeface is the one most pivitol to the show continuing. Bringing her little sister back isn't going to make up for it.

Life is Cruel

Christ I want that phone. Sure its kinda ugly, really nerdy, and techno80's in a bad way, but look at it. I got excited that it was Samsung b/c they do alot for sprint, but of course its one of those phones that isnt anchored to a service provider so you can use it with any-but pay a million for it. Its over $500. I think its the perfect dude phone. Girls have it easy- they've normally got a purse with them with all their crap so they can toss in a cellphone. What about the guys? You've already got a wallet you have to stash in some pocket, prob some keys, add a phone and you are three feet wider then you started. Its the great american downfall. yeah sure in nyc you can get away with a manpurse, but that doesn't make it right. I'm going to go to sleep, you guys wake me up when our watches are cell phones, cause then you wouldnt have to worry about carrying anything extra in your pocks. How about a badge, a la star trek's combadges? Sure, you might think, "that would be a brooch," but it would be really high tech so I think we could pull it off. I wish I knew more about hardware, I'd totally take apart my phone and tinker with it and make a custom casing . Like spread the parts all out thin or something.
